CCFC Beginner classes
Our club offers beginner fencing classes twice per year (September or January) for fencers aged 13 and up (as of December 31 current year).
For $60, you get all the equipment, classes, a month of fencing membership, and participation in our Beginners Invitational tournament in this 10 week program.

Membership and practices
Once you have completed a beginner program (with us or elsewhere) fencers 13+ to adult can join the club as a member.

When: Mondays from 8:30 – 10 PM, Wednesdays from 7:30 PM – 10 PM, and Saturdays 4:30 – 6 PM
Where: We fence at Royal Oak Middle School gym.
Who: Fencers aged 13 and up. (i.e., eligible to compete in the Senior age category in Canadian Fencing Federation age category regulations). Fencers must have completed a beginner class at CCFC or another club prior to joining regular practices. All levels welcome.
What: Mondays are open fencing, Wednesday includes a 30 minutes of structured warm up at the start of each session and then open fencing, and Saturdays are structured Skills and Drills clinics.
Fencers all volunteer with set up and clean up and refereeing.
We also have clinics, social events and friendly competitions in practice during the year., plus our annual tournaments.
Membership fee options:
Annual Membership: $400/year and includes all practices and clinics we offer, plus use of club equipment if needed. Can be paid in installments.
Annual fees are pro-rated at $40/month if you join mid-year, are able to participate for 2+ consecutive months but not the whole year, or sign up after completing the beginner class,
Drop ins are $15 per visit
10xdrop in “punch card” $125
Around for a short time only ? 1 Month Membership: is $50/month. Includes all practices and clinics we offer that month, plus use of club equipment if needed.
Youth members also benefit from our carpool subsidy and coach support at select youth out-of-town tournaments at no extra cost.
MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL
We are eligible for KidSport!
For beginner classes and annual memberships, Capital City Fencers’ Club fees are eligible for KidSport grants. Please select KidSport as your payment option when registering if you are applying for a grant. We will send you the invoice to submit with your application.

Private lessons
Club clinic coaches offer private lessons during practice by individual arrangement.
Tournaments
CCFC hosts regular tournaments including our Escrime Sundae and Fence-a-thon tournaments and two Beginners Invitational events. Tournaments are posted on askfred.net
We are proudly volunteer run
We are a democratic and volunteer-run club. Beginner class coaches are volunteers. Volunteers organize and host our events, help with all club set up and coordination. We also set our fees democratically at our Annual General Meeting each December. 🙂

Saanich Recreation
Saanich Recreation has youth fencing classes, taught by one of our members, Miko Ross.
En garde! Suit up and discover the European martial art of swordplay through the modern sport of fencing. Improve skills and have fun! Beginners receive instruction with the foil; continuing fencers will also be introduced to the sabre and epee. All equipment is supplied. Ages 10 and up.

UVIC
UVIC’s student fencing club offers beginner classes for students each semester in UVIC’s CARSA building. No experience necessary. All equipment is provided.
