CCFC offers a 3 month program which includes beginner class instruction, equipment, club fencing, and a beginners tournament for $60. The final month of the program is equivalent to club membership so you can get a feel for how our club works.

January 2026 Beginner Class begins January 14.

Basic information

Eligibility:

To register fencers must be 13, (per the Senior age category is defined in Canadian Fencing Federation age category regulations).

Location:

Royal Oak Middle School Gymnasium.

Equipment

The club provides equipment for beginner classes. You will be asked some sizing information with your registration to ensure we have adequate equipment for all participants.

Cost:

$60 per fencer.

Capital City Fencers’ Club is eligible for KidSport grants. Please select KidSport as your payment option when registering if you are applying for a grant. We will send you the invoice to submit with your KidSport application.

Fencers who complete the beginner class can have the annual membership fee prorated to continue for the rest of the year.

All fencers have voting membership in the club, our AGM and election.

Policy on missing classes:

For safety reasons, attendance of “Component 1” is mandatory to participate in the subsequent components. If you are sick or must miss a class, please email cap.city.fencing@gmail.com or speak to your instructor to arrange to cover the required material.

Location: Royal Oak Middle School gym

PROGRAM STRUCTURE:

  • COMPONENT 1: Smaller group instruction: one night per week, for four weeks (Either Monday or Wednesday evenings on January 14, 21, 28 and February 4)
  • COMPONENT 2: Supported participation in club fencing (Mondays 8:30-9:30 and Wednesdays 7:30 – 9:30): February 8, 11, 18, 23, 25 (No fencing on Stat holidays)
  • COMPONENT 3: Club membership (attend all/some as you like Mondays 8:30- 10 pm, Wednesdays 7:30 – 10 pm, Saturdays 4:30 – 6 pm for a month: All practices in March.
  • OPTIONAL: Beginners tournament event DATES TBD

NOTE: No fencing on Statutory holidays.

Class size: We will accept 12 fencers in each section.

Club Policies

CCFC is a member-run non-profit society. By joining our beginner class and club, you become a voting member and agree to abide by club policies.

By signing this release you will give up certain legal rights, including the right to sue. Please read carefully.

Re: Membership at the CCFC legally known as Capital City Fencers’ Club and their respective directors, officers, employees, contractors, representatives, officials, agents and volunteers collectively called the CCFC.

Assumption of risks
I am aware and understand that the use of the club has inherent dangers, hazards, and risks collectively called risks. The following is only a partial list of examples of these risks: negligence of other members, improper use of equipment, sustaining rigorous physical activity, travel to and from the club and club activities, collision with man-made or natural objects or other members or bystanders, equipment failure, and other hazardous materials I the club. I understand that injuries resulting from such risks are probably occurrences of the nature of fencing. I freely accept and fully assume all risks and that possibility of personal injuries, death, property damage, or loss resulting from activities in the club.

Release of Liability, Waiver and Indemnity Agreement
I acknowledge that it remains my sole responsibility to act in such a manner as to be responsible for my own safety and participate within my own limits. I understand that the Capital City Fencers’ Club Safety Rules listed on the reverse of this form are solely for the purpose of regulating myself and other members of the club. I have read and understand the Safety Rules and agree to abide by them. In consideration of my usage of the club, I together with my heirs, next of kin, executors, administrators, and assignees, collectively called my ‘legal representatives’ agree as follows:

a) to waive any and all claims that I have against the CCFC;
b) to release CCFC from any and all liability for loss, damage, injury, or expense that I or my legal representatives
may suffer as a result of my use of the CCFC equipment or facilities and participation in CCFC activities; and
c) to hold harmless and indemnify the CCFC from any and all liability for any damage or personal injury to any
third party resulting from my participation as a fencer.
