New year, new reels!

Capital City Fencers’ Club was the recipient of a BC Gaming Funds grant for the 2016-17 year. The grant has been used to pay rent, and upgrade equipment. Most notable at the club is the two new sets of Favero reels!

Annual General Meeting

The club Annual General Meeting was held December 7.

In response to changes in the Society Act prohibiting minors on the board without explicit bylaws, members voted to create a youth advisory council, which will elect its rep to the board from among those who are 17+ years old. About half the young members of the club volunteered to serve n the youth council. The campaign to be youth rep is already relentless.

Financial statements are posted on the website. Find out more →

Canada Cup

Good luck (and Tiger On!)
to all the Capital City Fencers’ Club members who are going to the Canada Cup in Richmond this weekend. Also good luck to former members, and lurkers from other clubs, who are on this list … see you there!

For those who wish they could be there, Fencing Canada posts a lot of pictures to twitter during big events. But remember, social media is not really exercise or fencing drills.

So, to make up for that, here are the fencing scenes from Kenneth Brannaugh’s Hamlet:
