Last night = name stealing
Wednesday, June 14 is the last night of the CCFC fencing season, so we will play the club favourite:
***************************
Name Stealing Night!
***************************
Simply put, we fence as usual (from 7:30 – 10), and if (when!) you win a bout you get to name your opponent. Those assigned names are stuck with the excellent new name until they next win a bout… Perhaps until September 11 when we reconvene!!
Summer fencing at UVIC
You can still fence this summer — at UVIC!
Options for beginners and advanced fencers, as well as young beginnners. Check out the options here:
BC Provincial Championships: Events for Cadet and older
Perhaps Deniza and Ahmed’s recent medal wins at the BC Provincial Championship youth events have whet your appetite for some competition?
Senior events are coming up — for Cadet, Junior, Senior and Veterans.
Competition takes place June 23-25, 2017 at Dynamo in Richmond, BC.
Registration and times for each event are on askfred.
Not sure what competition age categories you are eligible for? Fencing Canada has a handy guide.
Reffing Clinic proposal
Do you want to improve your reffing skills? Or perhaps you are sick of being corrected by ungrateful and argumentative fencers who clearly did not parry?
The BC Fencing Association is offering –subject to interest– a reffing clinic during the BC Provincials. This would be on the Friday night (June 23) and Saturday (June 24) during the day.
The clinic is free, but will only be offered if enough people pre-register.
Interested?* contact BCFA President, John, “bcfa president” @gmail.com>
Testimonials for referee clinics:
“I think you should go to this clinic because I actually did parry and I had priority but you gave the point to […] and now I have been errantly assigned a humiliating name at Name Stealing Night.”
