Hello fencers!
It’s been great to have such busy practices since we started again in September.
This is a quick reminder that there will be *no fencing* on Wednesday, September 26 as Royal Oak School is hosting a school event in the gymnasium that evening. Bur we will see you tomorrow night at 8, as usual.
In other fencing news:
Welcome fencers old and new!
Great to see so many fencers back again this year, and a couple new faces as well, including some graduates of Miko’s youth program.
We’re lucky to have two exchange students fencing with for the first six months of the high school year — one fencing epee and another fencing sabre (Yes, sabre fans, you heard right!). Come say hello and have a bout!
A new crop of beginner classes start October 3.
Upcoming Tournaments
October is a good time to travel to Vancouver to compete. You can visit UBC on October 21 for their Hallowe’en Slash and Stab or for younger competitors the first of the Tri-Fencing Academy events is October 28.
Any youth interested in traveling to Vancouver for competitions should talk to Stacy about carpooling.
For our own club, we’ve already booked March 23 for Escrime Sundae and May 25-26 for the overnight extravaganza known as Fence-a-Thon. Registration opens in December.
See you tomorrow night!
Stacy
