June is our last month of fencing before summer break! Here’s our June news.

June schedule of events

Last night of fencing: Wednesday, June 26.

Leprechaun attacks and name stealing: Wednesday June 12. Yes there will be cereal.

We will also have our annual (not quite) midnight pizza social after the final practice on June 26. Come fence and take your disheveled exhausted and hungry selves to Boston Pizza for a late night pizza party with your fellow fencers.

So make sure you’re there, and bring some extra cash to buy your food. Let us know if you need to carpool from practice to Boston Pizza so we can plan. (We go to the BP at Saanich Plaza, 3510 Blanshard St #102,  V8X 1W3).

Fence-a-thon!

A huge thank you to all the volunteers, donors and fencers who made fence-a-thon a success. We raised a whopping $2,175 for the BC Cancer Foundation. Thank you to everyone who donated and raised funds!

A special shout out to Rob for organizing the grip painting and the Barss family for contributing our most popular prizes — the farm baskets full of homemade bread, jam and other goodies were top picks and check out Francis’ handmade weapon stand!

Thanks to everyone who made it possible by:

  • donating and raising funds
  • donating and making prizes
  • reffing at the event
  • Set up, tear down, and planning
  • bringing equipment
  • bringing FOOD for the feat. So yummy!

We had 28 fencers out this year, and also ran our first team events. There were four epee teams and five foil teams competing. The team event was somewhat chaotic but a lot of fun… even if it meant we ate our midnight feast at 2:30 am (!!!)
