Hello fencers!
A quick note with some club updates for you.
Been away from fencing? Come on back!
If you have been away for a while, we encourage you to come back to fencing! We continue to fence on Mondays from 8-10 and Wednesdays from 7:30- 10 at Royal Oak Middle School gym. The first 30 minutes of Wednesday includes a group technique and warm up session.
We have been foil and epee focused in the past few years but there is a recent interest in sabre… so there are no blade related excuses!
Fees are $10 to drop in, $40/month, or if you fence at other clubs, swing by for Free Monday Fight Nights in November and December (no fencing Nov 11) for some friendly inter-club rivalry.
Here’s a bit of what’s happening at the club in the next month or so:
Volunteers needed: Beginners Invitational in ONE WEEK!
We have our Beginners Invitational Tournament coming up in ONE WEEK! This is part of the beginners fencing program and a chance for novice fencers to learn how to run tournaments, which is vital to the club!

Youth tournament December 15 (Coquitlam)
We have a car going to the Coquitlam youth tournament December 15. This event is suitable for teens and we work to keep the cost low by subsidizing car poolers. This is a sanctioned event so fencers will need a CFF License:
If you are a teenager and interested, contact Stacy at the club or at capcityfencing for more information. Event info is here:
https://askfred.net/Events/moreInfo.php?tournament_id=43784
And if its not quite time for a tournament yet, don’t worry, there will be local tournaments in the spring, as well as another road trip to Coquitlam in February.
Coming up in December
Watch out for our December favorites: Gift stealing night on our last night of practice (December 18) and our Annual General meeting and election and NAME STEALING NIGHT!
