Hello fencers!

We have THREE fencing tournaments in Victoria to tell you about! We are awash in opportunities!

Beginners Invitational (March 7)
Spring fencing at UVIC (March 8)
Escrime Sundae Registration now open (May 24)

1. Beginners Invitational – Saturday March 7

Reminder that today is the deadline for fencers to register for the Beginners Invitational on March 7.

There are only a couple spaces left for fencers, so let me know if you are hoping to come!

This is a free unsanctioned tournament for fencers who are currently in, or have recently completed, a beginner program. For fencers 10+ – we will sort fencers into events by age. Participation is capped at 10 per event due to limited time. Details:

When: Saturday March 7, 2020, starts at 8:45 am sharp, done by 11:30 am. Pre-registration required.
Where: Capital City Fencers’ Club, Royal Oak Middle School gymnasium
Weapon: foil.
Equipment: Equipment to be supplied by participating clubs. The CCFC has a limited supply of additional equipment to loan to other clubs.
Cost: Free to participate
How to register: Send the information listed below in an email to cap.city.fencing@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE: SPACE IS LIMITED. Events are capped at 10 participants due to time constraints.

Fencers name, Email address, Phone, Birth Date, Coach/Club.
FOR MINORS: Parent or guardian please send the information above with your full name and contact information.

For Volunteers: Novice fencers manage this event as a learning experience. Starts at 8 am for set up. Email Stacy by Wednesday if you want to volunteer at cap.city.fencing@gmail.com

Already registered? Thanks! You will be getting another email with information about what to bring/expect, etc.

2. Spring fencing at UVIC

And for the not-so-beginners, the bold and the weary, UVIC is hosting “Spring Fencing at UVIC” in the CARSA performance gym on March 8. Featuring mixed events in foil, epee and sabre. Hoping to see every CCFC fencer on the piste for this!

When: Sunday March 8, 2020, registration closes at 12 noon.
Where: UVIC CARSA gym (the fancy one)
Weapon: foil, epee, and YES, even sabre!
Equipment: CCFC can help club members with equipment if needed.
Cost: Free to participate . Did we mention FREE? This event is completely, FREE and unsanctioned! Practically lawless, in fact!

3. Escrime Sundae

Registration is now open for CCFC’s annual favourite, Escrime Sundae on Sunday May 24. Join us for Capital City Fencers’ Club’s famous invitational inspirational non-denominational fencing tournament of fun with entrance for a song plus a nominal fee, kazoos provided at the door. All entrants can enjoy an ice cream sundae after elimination–and winners take home an ice cream goblet! — so … Come for the Fencing, and stay for the Ice Cream Sundae!

Registration is $20 for the first event, $10 for additional events. Mixed foil, epee and sabre events.
