Return to fencing October 19

Hello Fencers!

Mark your calendars!

CCFC will be returning to fencing at our usual space–Royal Oak Middle School (ROMS) on October 19 and be held on Mondays 8 – 10 and Wednesday evenings 7 – 9 [note the different time!]. Sounds like we have 10-15 peopleplanning to come on each night.

Safety protocol

As mentioned in previous messages, we will have COVID19 protocols in place, including a requirement to either bring your own equipment or pay a deposit for club gear you maintain through the season.

We will have the full gym to ourselves, so there will be plenty of distance.

We will be following the BC Fencing Association protocols, with some extra rules from ROMS and our own club. Full protocol will be circulated next week and everyone will need to confirm they have reviewed it before starting to fence. 🙂

Payment online please

I will not be handling cash payments. Please pre-pay for your membership ($40/month) OR drop in ($10) by etransfer to stacyc or pay by cheque.

Equipment order:

If you would like to order equipment using the club discount, please let me know ASAP and I will submit the order next week to get you the gear as soon as possible.

We order from crossedswords.ca if you wish to check out a measurement chart. Discounts are on PBT and Favero gear. The club covers the shipping on group orders so it does save you some money to order through us. 🙂

Programming

Our current plan is to offer twice-weekly practice times for members to fence, as well as some online sessions for those who like them, or who are staying home.

We are not planning to offer tournaments or beginners classess in the immediate future, but will revisit that in December.

Gaming funds

We received gaming grant funding this year, which will be very helpful for us maintaining our operations through a tough year so thanks BC Government!

I want to thank everyone who took the time to reply to the survey, it really helped us make plans for the fall that are realistic and workable. Thanks to my fellow board members for all the work planning and reviewing the budget over skype!
