Count down to fencing!

Fencers!

We are only 10 days away from our 2021 fencing season!

I hope to see all of you out on our first night, Monday September 13, Royal Oak Middle School gym, 8 – 10 pm.

Quick reminders:

1. No shared equipment. Those without their own gear can rent from the club at a very low cost… be there the first night to get your favourites! Ye olde Peter Yang Mask will be hotly contested.

2. Practice will kick off each night with a 30 min of chill skill drills led by Isaac Carter Hughes, with guest stars visiting through the year.

3. BC and Club COVID protocol in place –– COVID vaccination proof required at entry, cleaning between bouts, etc, and please review our updated membership form with all the safety rules that are fit to print, waiver, and equipment rental info!

Yes, we do need the membership form each year, so please print, complete and come with! 🙂

4. This is your club! Help us recruit new fencers who will be awesome fun members — or your nemesis so we can cheer you on as you defeat them!

Our beginner class starts Sep 29 is about half full, and accepting registration now and they can review the details on our website here: https://capcityfencers.wordpress.com/fencing-in-victoria/

or on our facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/capcityfencers/posts/819922728648432

5. Come on out! The more the merrier, so come out the first week to kick the season off right with full pistes of every blade! (also please come out the first week so that I don’t have to sort out gear rentals during practice every night of the fall!)

6. paralympic fencing. CBC broadcast several paralympic events, but just like the olympics, Canadian fencers were shortchanged! however, Netflix has a documentary Rising Pheonix that features paralympic fencer Bebe Vio (Italy, women’s sabre),

See you in 10 days!!!

Stacy
