New to tournaments?

Registration:
To register at https://askfred.net/Events/whoIsComing.php?tournament_id=50170
for the first time you will need to know:

  • Fencer’s full name
  • Fencer’s birth date
  • Which event you will participate in
  • Your home club (if none, choose unattached). Capital City Fencers Club is CCFC (Can)
  • Email where updates of the tournament should be sent

You will be asked your ranking and membership number, but these can be left blank for now.

You can also send the above information to me and I will register you!

NOTE: Once registered to attend, you must also sign in at the tournament site no later than your event registration close time.

What to bring

You will need your mask, weapon, glove, jacket, lame, and body wire. CCFC members who have rented club equipment bring it to the event and use a club wire and weapon

Fencing pants (knickers) are not required, but you must have legs fully covered. Please wear sweatpants–shorts will not be permitted.

You must wear non-marking running shoes suitable for sport activity in a gym.

Aside from clothing, please bring a water bottle. Many fencers also bring a small towel and extra t-shirt. Snacks for energy during the event are also a good idea… limited snacks for sale at the event as noted above.

COVID

Fencers, spectators and volunteers must be vaccinated and will be asked to provide vaccination proof at the door.

Mask wearing is welcome but not mandatory.

We ask attendees to maintain social distancing.

When to show up and how long will it last

The time of the event is when registration closes. Please arrive ~30 minutes before the registration close time and check in/pay for your event before the registration close deadline.

Length of a tournament can be somewhat unpredictable, and depends on the number of registrants (per-registration is helpful!). Events can last 1.5-3 hours. Please plan to be to stay for the full event.

How to pay for the event

Cash can be paid at the event. Exact change is greatly appreciated.

Electronic payment can be made by etransfer. Send the registration fee to capcityfencing before Saturday — No password is required. If fencer is not the payee, please put fencer name in the memo.

Tournament structure:

Section 1: Poules

5 point bouts with each fencer in your group

Break (~10 minutes)

Section 2: DE
A bracket is set up based on Poule results. 15 point bouts with direct elimination — winner of the bout continues up the bracket, loser is eliminated (and gets ice cream!)

Awards are given at the end of DE for each event. Winners receive a sundae cup with which to enjoy their ice cream!

Spectators:

Spectators are welcome, within the COVID protocol rules. There is no charge to spectate.
