Fencing – what happens if it snows? And other exciting stuff

Hello all,

There are various weather warnings going around … so you might wonder what happens to fencing practice if it snows!

Here is our “if it is very snowy” plans for Wednesday night fencing

1. If schools are closed OR buses are not running we will not be fencing.

2. If police have asked people to stay home and not drive except in emergency, we will not be fencing

3. When it snows, check your email: even if 1 or 2 are not the case, Saanich Recreation may still text me to say they will not open, and I will send an email to let everyone know. This is rare, but it can happen when the roads are bad near the school but fine in other parts of town.

Our gym access is based on whether Saanich Rec staff are expected to come to work.

Hopefully the storm will be gone and we will see you at fencing tomorrow night, but …. what can a fencer do if you are stuck home in the snow?

4. Prepare for gift stealing night

Look around your house to find the perfect item, get out the glue gun and make the perfect item from old socks and bits of lego, can you bake a cake that is also a working fencing score box? …. whatever it takes, be ready for our annual gift stealing night on December 14.
