Fencing 2023 January update – we are back to fencing Jan 4!

Hello fencers!

We are back fencing this Wednesday (Jan 4)

Our first night of fencing in 2023 is Wednesday, January 4 , 7:30 – 10 pm and we can’t wait to see you there!

We continue to have regular practices on Mondays from 8 – 10 pm and Wednesdays from 7:30 – 10 pm

Just finished beginners and want to keep going?

If you have just completed the beginner class in December, and want to continue fencing, please reply to this email and let us know

  • Do you want to purchase a monthly pass ($40/month – I will invoice you each month)
  • Do you want to pay from now to end of seasons (5 months x $40 = $200)
  • Do you want to pay for drop ins as you show up (Sign in each night, I will invoice you $10/night at end of the month)

Current members, let  me know if there are changes in how you want to pay your fees.

Help us promote the next Beginners’ classes

Yes, your friends, family, classmates and coworkers want to learn fencing!! We have two sessions in January (one on Mondays and one on Wednesdays), with 10 spots each. Tell all your friends to check out the info and registration page:

Classes start on January 16 (Monday) OR January 18 (Wednesday)

We have 7 spots left on Wednesday and 9 on Monday.

Annual General Meeting – club update

We held our annual general meeting December 7 and elected our board of directors for 2023:

President: Robert Smith

Vice President: Isaac Carter-Hughes

Treasurer; Stacy Chappel

Youth rep: Lawrence Barss

Members at large: Trevor Morrison, Anna Smith, Noelle Chang-Zhelka

In the meeting members voted to change our fee structure in September 2024 as follows:

Monthly membership (paid each month): $50

Membership paid annually (10 months): $400 with an option to pay in two installments of $200

Drop-in fee:  $15

Drop in punch card: $125 for 10 visits

Beginner Class: $60 (no change)

Beginner HEMA class: $75 (to be implemented as soon as HEMA class can begin)

Gas rebate for volunteers driving youth to tournaments in Vancouver: Increased from $50 to cost of refuelling with receipt
