FENCING: Escrime Sundae Tournament SATURDAY APRIL 8

Dear Fencers, Parents, and Volunteers,

Escrime Sundae is almost upon us! We are very excited for this popular tournament, which draws fencers from the Island and the Lower Mainland, and where everyone who joins in is rewarded with ice cream.

1. What’s the Escrime Sundae?

This unsanctioned competition is open to all fencers 13 yrs+ (in 2023), in all three weapons and of all levels of experience. It will consist of a round of poules (bouts to 5 points with a group of 5-8 fencers) and then Direct Elimination bouts to 15 – if you win, you get to keep fencing, and if you lose, you get to eat ice cream!

Because this competition is unsanctioned, no CFF License is required.

The event will run on Saturday, April 8th with CCFC members in the gym from 9:30am.

Cost: $20 for first event; $10 for second event; free for additional events.

2. How can I help?

We will need all hands on deck for this event! We need many helpers for this competition, for many kinds of jobs and at many different times. Capital City Fencers’ Club is a volunteer-run organization and we are grateful for the support of our community. Since we are a not-for-profit, proceeds from this event go back into the club and help to support youth events, training, and opportunities for fencers.

Volunteers, please email or speak to Anna, Stacy or Isaac at the club as soon as possible so we know how many people to expect. Volunteers are welcome to join us for ice cream!

Experienced Fencer Jobs:

– Referee bouts

– Help with the Directoire Technique

Less Experienced Required:

– Timekeeping, scorekeeping

No Experience Required:

– Help with setup (9:30am – 11:30am) – Lots of people needed

– Check-in Desk (10:30am – 11:30am, 1:30pm – 2:30pm)

– Serve ice cream (2:00pm – 4:00pm, 4:00pm-6:00pm)

– Tear down & clean up gym (5:00pm-6:30pm) – Lots of people needed

3. How to Register:

11:00 AM – Mixed Foil
12:00 PM – Mixed Epee
2:30 PM – Mixed Sabre
3:00 PM – Novice Mixed Foil
