Last night of fencing – tomorrow night (June 21)

Hello fencers

Tomorrow, Wednesday June 21, is our last night of fencing for the 2022-2023 season.

Come out for a fun night of fencing and games and such!

As we head into summer we will not have regular practice, however, we will have occasion to get together

1. OSM Fencing tournament July 1 – 2 weekend

If you have been at the club in the past few weeks you will have heard us mention the OSM free team event on the July long weekend.

This is a free fun event for team fencing in foil OR epee. You do not need a CFF license to participate.

Event details are here so you can see if dates and times will work: https://askfred.net/Events/moreInfo.php?tournament_id=53591

Reminder that Wednesday practice is the last night to ask for help if you need assistance with registration/equipment. πŸ™‚

2. Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA) workshop

Those who love chasing James around with a broadsword will be keen to know we are ordering some HEMA equipment and James and Isaac will be offering an introduction to HEMA class. The cost to take the class will be $75 (Similar to beginner class).

There can be delays obtaining equipment (and gym space) so the dates are to be determined—but we are hoping to run the class in August or September on Sunday afternoons. if you are interested in being on the waitlist for this class, please reply to this email and let me know!

3. When does fencing practice start again

I have been informed that UVIC will not be having fencing in July and August, so I am sorry about that! 😦

CCFC will be back to fencing in September, and I will send a message to this list as soon as we have our start dates and gym times booked.

I will also use this list to let you know about any summer socials (sometimes we get together in a park for a fencing picnic) and the HEMA class. πŸ™‚
