Fencing is happening – Monday Nov 13
|
| Several fencers have asked if we will be fencing tonight, and the answer is YES we will be fencing from 8-10 pm at Royal Oak Middle School gym.
While many workplaces observe the stat holiday, including schools, our gym use is arranged through Saanich Recreation, whose staff observe the stat on November 11.
So if you are free, we will be there tonight for practice as usual. |
Beginners Invitational November 18

| Our annual beginners tournament is coming up!
New fencers are encouraged to compete. Experienced fencers are encouraged to volunteer and learn how to run a tournament.

Fencers:
This is an unsanctioned tournament for fencers who have recently completed their first beginners’ program and would like to try a fencing tournament. The purpose of this event is for beginners to learn how a fencing tournament works in a friendly relaxed environment so they will feel confident attending tournaments in future.
Who:
- Fencers aged 10 years and up (including adults).
- Beginners currently enrolled in a beginners programs at CCFC, Saanich Recreation, OSM fencing, and UVIC OR
- Beginners who have completed a beginner class in 2023 and have never participated in a tournament.
When: November 18, 2023
Time: Check-in opens at 9:30 am and closes at 10 AM. Tournament end time is determined by the number of participants and other factors. Please plan to attend from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm.
Volunteers
This event is also a chance for novice fencers to learn how to run a fencing tournament. Youth especially encouraged to participate as referees, set up and take down crew, timers, score keepers, registration table crew, and Director Technique.
Non fencing parents also welcome to help with set up/take down and registration.

| Bonus: There will be a pizza lunch! If we end early, we will use the afternoon gym time for social fencing and fencing games.
Where: Capital City Fencers’ Club, Royal Oak Middle School gymnasium
Weapon: foil.
Events: Fencers will be grouped by age.
Equipment: Please arrange for equipment through your club/coach.

Nan-Sang Ho Legacy Open

| Fencers 16 and up are invited to UVIC’s Nan-Sang Ho Legacy Open tournament on November 25, 2023 at UVIC. Unsanctioned. No CFF license in required.

OSM circuit #2 – December 9
|
| OSM Fencing 2023-2024 Circuit, Tournament#1 featuring: Y10, Y12, Cadet & Senior Foil, and Junior & Senior Epee. SANCTIONED (CFF license required). Close of Registration: December 6th.
This is a great tournament for youth interested in competition.

| ESCRIME SUNDAE
Fence on Saturday and eat an ice cream sundae!
Join us on Saturday, April 6th for the 12th Practically Annual Inspirational, Motivational, Recreational, Non-Confrontational Escrime Sundae!
Mayhem, more mayhem, and ice cream!
Foil, Sabre, Epee and novice foil events.

Fencing World Cup (Epee) in Vancouver this December

Vancouver Fencing World Cup 2023 planning is underway. We hope you’re excited for Vancouver’s biggest fencing event of the year!
