Escrime Sundae 20th anniversary edition
A huge thank you to all the volunteers who made Escrime Sundae possible— and fun!
A big thanks to all the club members and families who came to help set up and take down, and do everything in between.
We had a few key volunteers get sick at the last minute so people stayed longer than they originally planned. Some fencers took on roles they were not anticipating and a few people dropped out of the competition in order to help run things. Fencers from other clubs arrived, learned we were short handed, and stepped up referee on the spot. We could not have done it without you.
We also had a lot of help from other clubs—Malcolm brought those heavy pistes from UVIC, and Evan arranged to bring them to Vancouver for a tournament and then back to Victoria for OSM a few days later.
UVIC ensured we had enough scoring boxes and reels, and then spirited them away (a bit late) for their Saturday evening practice.
Finally thanks to everyone—whether volunteers, fencers, parents—for your good cheer and patience! Some of you were at the gym from 8 am to 8 pm and smiling the whole time. It’s been 20 years of Escrime Sundae and the volunteers and friendly spirit are what makes it a great event.
