TFA Cadet and Junior tournament

Road trip!

Who has tournament fever after Escrime Sundae?

Several cadet and junior fencers have expressed interest in attending the TFA Cadet/Junior tournament on April 27 in Pitt Meadows.

We are organizing a carpool road trip. This is a day trip, with an early start and late return home.

Events:

There are Cadet and Junior events in Sabre, Epee, and Foil.

Age Definitions:

Cadet: born 2008-2011

Junior: born 2005-2011

Registration:

Registration is open on AskFred, deadline to register is April 25.

Coaching

We will have CCFC Coaching at the event if there is a group attending.

CFF Licenses:

All participating fencers will be required to have their CFF license (or foreign equivalent) for liability reasons. Licenses can be obtained through BCFA’s license page.

TRAVEL carpool

CCFC is organizing carpooling for this event. The club can support carpool volunteer drivers with costs of ferry. To sign up to join the carpool OR volunteer to drive, please click the sign up button below. We will take as few cars as possible to keep costs low.

Foil World Cup in Richmond ROAD TRIP!

The Foil World Cup is coming to Vancouver May 1 – 4.

This features team and individual men’s and women’s foil events… and a chance to see Canada’s first ever olympic fencing medalist Eleanor Harvey compete!

https://www.bcfencingassociation.com/vancouverworldcup

A few of the club members have been discussing taking a road trip to watch either the individual table of 64 + (Saturday) or team events (Sunday).

Would you like to join a road trip to watch some top notch fencing… and maybe even a medal for Canada?!

Please note no club subsidy for this, so everyone would be splitting costs of taking the car on the ferry and gas etc.

HECK YAH! WORLD CUP ROAD TRIP

Escrime Sundae recap

If I could just send out one more huge thank you to all the volunteers who made this event run so smoooothly.

Thanks to Andrea the amazing DT, who also designed the medals, Patty and Rob T for the sign in admin, Owen and Griffin on the ice cream bar (and the Taylors for planning and coordinating the ice cream bar), Caleb for taking on lead ref, James for fixing all we broke, and fixing it again when we broke it again, Anna who trained the DT crew, all the referees, Rob for fixing reels and weapons in advance of the event, all set up and take down crew, the volunteers who planned the whole thing, Orion, Owen, and Evan who schlepped the equipment from their clubs and back again, and Drew Hissen and Suhyon from UVIC and Eden Armstrong who took photos and shared them with me that you can now enjoy….

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

We received many kind words from fencers who appreciated how well run the event ran, and that is due to all of you!

Congratulations to all the athletes. And a special congratulation to our medalists:

To register, visit the Vikes Active Living Page and search for fencing.

Please note students and other campus folks can join the club directly via the student club system.

Vote Fencing!

Ok… there is no campaign to make fencing a voters issue, as far as I know. but I think we can vote in favour of this excellent fleche action caught on film by Drew Hissen. Escrime Sundae 2025.
