| The last week of our CCFC fencing season has arrived.
There is no fencing Monday (the school is using the gym)
and
our last night fencing will be Wednesday June 25! |

HOLD THE DATE for End of Season Club Social Picnic on the afternoon of July 19. Some park, somewhere, we’ll find a new way of fencing!

| Summer fencing at UVIC is on Thursday (6 – 8 pm) and Saturday (5 – 8 pm)
July / August is open for registration —and you can be under 16 —but apparently some folks (including me!) having issues with registration.
So try registration on the vikes rec martial arts page: https://vikesrec.ca/martial-arts
And if that fails give UVIC Rec a call! 🙂
Summer fencing, had me a blast! Missed that parry, happened so fast!

| So a big thank you to everyone in the club for a terrific year.
Club members make it all possible, so thank you to the board members, coaches, tournament volunteers, armourers, and fencers and family who always pitch in to help set up and clean up at practice!
It has been a great year, check out what we accomplished:
- Welcomed many new members (and finally convinced a few parents to pick up a sword) in our four beginner classes
- Offered Saturday Skills and Drills all year (not just for a few weeks) and the coaches organized a structured developmental program (thanks!!!) for the year;
- Hosted Escrime Sundae
- Hosted Beginners Invitational tournament:
- Held the refereeing workshop;
- Ran an armoury workshop;
- Had more members participate in outside tournaments;
- Offered coaching support at those tournaments
- Had huge turnout at our regular practices (we are working on getting more score boxes to shorten the wait times!);
- Regularly have sabre, epee and foil every night;
- Went on the road trip to see the world foil cup in Vancouver;
- Watched the first Canadian fencing medal live on TV one very early morning last summer;
- Survived the picnic despite all those replica historical weapons that mysteriously showed up (!!)
Many of you participated in your first fencing class, fencing tournament, or first tournament outside the club. Congratulations!
Some of you are graduating from high school this month. Congratulations!

So with all that in mind, I hope you will all come celebrate at the end of year social (more to come, but planing for July 19) and also we are… |
