Reminder – No fencing Sept 17
We don’t have the gym on Wednesday September 17 due to school use, so there will be no fencing.
While we are sad to miss out on a Wednesday practice, we are happy to tell yous some ways you can help out the club this week:
- Come to the Wednesdays Social (and watch Princess Bride — possibly the greatest film sword fight!)
- Volunteer at the Oct 4 tournament (sign up at the social or by email below)
- Register to fence at the tournament on Oct 4 today! It really helps the organizers and club if people sign up early! (YES! You can volunteer and fence at the tournament!)
- Promote our beginner class
- And of course, come fence on Monday (chills) and Saturday (skills and drills)!
Sept 17 Club Social
Well we don’t have the gym on Wednesday September 17 due to a school function.
So …. why not come out to a club social (which will include a short info sing up session) for the tournament volunteering?
All members are encouraged to come to a brief tournament planning overview session and volunteer task sign up. . . and then hang out to watch the Princess Bride (featuring one of the best stage fencing scenes of all time!)
Starting 7 PM Wednesday Sept 17 at Stacy’s place, we will review the tournament plan and sign up for volunteer tasks (briefly!)… and then settle in to watch the Princess Bride. Please RSVP by Tuesday noon (I will send further details)!!!!

Register to fence at our October 4 tournament
CCFC is hosting a season-starter October Fencing Fest on October 4th
Thinking of coming? Yes! Yes you should!
And importantly, if you wish to come and fence, you really do need to register to help us plan the event effectively!
This is our very first October Fencing Fest and it is a great way to kick start the 2025-2026 fencing season. This is an unsanctioned event We encourage all CCFC fencers to sign up and participate.
We’ve got you covered with events in foil, epée, and sabre. And gourds.
Entry to our tournaments is $20 for 1 event, $10 for a second event, and third event free.
If you are having trouble registering, please let us know!

Beginner class updates
Our Fall 2025 Beginner Class will be offered starting Wednesday September 24 and registration is now open on our website: https://capcityfencers.ca/fencing-in-victoria/beginners-registration/
We are currently half full… so there is still room for more!
Can you help us promote the class?
Grab the poster above to share on socials. Or … print a copy (from our website here) and put it up in your favourite neighbourhood cafe, at school, or the library.
Member referral is our #1 way to reach beginners… perhaps your friends are thinking they can make new friends (and stab them) … and stab their old friends (i.e. you), too!

New piste mini update
Thanks to everyone who registered in August so we could order a new piste for the club.
We have been advised it will arrive in Montreal Monday (Sept 15) and immediately be shipped off to Victoria. Hoping for an inaugural bout at practice the following week.
I think it needs a good nickname, as well. Just putting that out there.
