COVID – What next?

COVID protocols have changed. Masking and vaccine passports are no longer required in recreation centres by health authorities.

Earlier in the pandemic, we heard from members about their concerns regarding COVID. Many of our members have young children, or family who are at higher risk from COVID. We also have two years experience implementing protocol and know what was easy/impractical. Our COVID protocol during the past year included:

  • all fencers and attendees must be vaccinated
  • hand sanitizer at the door
  • sign out of equipment (no shared equipment)
  • masking optional and encouraged when possible, recognizing some people can’t manage during heavy exercise and some people prefer to use them
  • No hand shakes at end of bout.

The club will continue to follow public health mandates and recommendations at a minimum. However, we could maintain a higher level of vaccine and masking requirement if that was the preference of club members.

Now that most of the public is vaccinated, we want to know what our members need to feel safe fencing at the club!
