December 15 – Gift Stealing Night!
By Club tradition we celebrate the last night of fencing with a bit of seasonal gift thieving, along with our fencing.
Come out December 15 from 7:30 to 10 pm, and bring a wrapped gift (wrapped to cleverly conceal the true contents).
We encourage gifts to be homemade, found items from home (your uncle will not miss that old broom!), or valued less than $10. Goofy, lovely, sweet or disturbing… your choice!
***Keep the contents secret!****
How it works:
Throughout the night, when your bout begins, you take your gift to the piste and place it next to the score box. Whoever wins the bout leaves with the gift of their choice, the bout loser takes the other gift. This continues and the gifts are swapped through the night until the 9:40 pm alarm rings… then we open the gifts and hilarity ensues!

As always, club volunteers and coaches make this event possible, so thanks to Felix, Lawrence, Noelle, Benson and Miko for making the event possible!!
The event was followed with some social team fencing offering a chance for new fencers to get to know some club regulars. Photo: Benson makes a plan with his teammates, Dannika and Nick:
AGM report
CCFC 2021 AGM was held on Wednesday December 1.
Thanks to outgoing board members Luther White and Rod Mack for their service over the past year.
The 2021 board did a lot of work steering the club through a variety of COVID shut downs and restrictions, so thanks to all of them!
Welcome/Welcome back to the 2022 board:
President: Robert Smith
Vice President: Isaac Carter-Hughes
Treasurer: Stacy Chappel
Signing Officer and Member at larger: Trevor Morrison
Youth Rep: Noelle Chang-Zhelka
Alt Youth Rep: Lawrence Barss
No changes to our club fees in 2022.
Isaac chaired the meeting and marked each motion passed with squeaky chicken. Here he is squeaking after he was re-elected as Vice-President.
Squeaky chicken took on a new life in the club.
Gear order
A few club members and the club are making a gear order.
If you want to get in on the order (and use our club discount and save on shipping!) let me know by replying to this message. If you don’t know what to order, I can help you sort it out.
We make our purchases from crossedswords.ca if you would like to browse the catalogue.
