Girls Fencing Clinic March 19 and 20. Join us or help spread the word

CCFC is offering an all-girls fencing clinic to encourage girls to participate in our awesome sport! This event is for girls 10 years and up who are beginning fencers (under 12 months) or who have never fenced.

The clinic will be held Saturday March 19 and Sunday March 20 from 4-7pm at our regular location. Participants will also be invited to join Monday 8-10 pm and Wednesday 7:30-10 pm practices with the club that week at no cost.

Our intrepid coach, Anna Smith, will be leading the clinic, ably supported by Xi and Noelle.

Girls in current or recent beginners classes who wish to attend are welcome to register.

This event is sponsored by Kidsport, and is free! Space is limited, however, so registration is required.

Please help us spread the word by sharing this information and the clinic registration website:

https://capcityfencers.wordpress.com/girls-clinic/

If you are a girl who has fenced for more than a year, and would like to attend as a welcoming mentor, please let us know by reply email

I made a poster and will have them at practice Monday for anyone who has a use for that kind of promo (in schools, etc). Feel free to email me if you want one sent to you.

The CCFC board is meeting this weekend to determine the details. so hold the day and watch this space as I will be circulating event details soon!

We will be looking for volunteers to help with event set up/take down, coordination, etc.

Thanks to Miko and James for the awesome Sabre and Epee intro day!

Congrats to the the gold medal team the fleurepeebre event. Here they are (Nick, James, Frances!) with their commemorative pocky!

And of course, Rod, who brought the tunes and made a bit of video at the event (includes historical sword stuff and some action shots from the clinic!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yMXkIt0OnfE

[Sorry that I am so loud!]

2022 Goofball night prize winners recap

January 2022 Toxic Waste Candy won by Xi… but Lawrence AAAAAALMOST won this healthy treat with the most toe touches. It got a bit brutal at the end but we don’t talk about that.

February 2022

Isaac and Xi won the February fancy juice prizes but I can’t remember how.

Taylor was *very excited* to win this kiwi with his awesome sabre talents.

I apologize I did not capture a photo of “pocky winners for posterity” last night. But you know who you are with all your flank touches!

Narlugas!

We love Narwhals because…. well they are sea creatures with SWORDS… unicorns of the sea… but now there is are NARLUGAS– half Beluga half Narwhal!

Check out this CBC interview with a Narluga researcher!!!! https://www.cbc.ca/listen/live-radio/1-63/clip/15898351

Could Narlugas be the next club mascot? And what other hybrid could result in an awesome sword-horned creature?
